A SSB Officer or Sashastra Seema Bal Officer is responsible for guarding India's borders with Nepal and Bhutan. Originally set up in 1963, the Sashastra Seema Bal mainly deals with preventing cross-border crime and smuggling as well as other anti-national activities within the confines of the country and its territories.

Places of Work: You can find employment in various battalions of the SSB which have several departments such as Operations and Intelligence, Personnel and Training, Administration, Provisioning and Communication, Medical and so on.
Work Environment: The work timings are typically 6 to 7 days a week for 8 to 9 hours per day. Shift system is applicable. You are expected to deal with challenging situations. Most of the work is outdoors.
