Social Workers help people prevent and cope with problems in their everyday lives. They work and interact with people from various socioeconomic backgrounds. They design beneficial plans and programs for them. There are four fields of social work, namely :
a) Medical and Public Health workers
b) Child, Family and School social workers
c) Mental Health and Substance Abuse social workers
d) Other types of social workers involved in administration, planning and policymaking.

Priti is a graduate from the School of Social Work at Nirmala Niketan, College of Social Work. She stood first in her specialisation in Social Work from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in 1986. She created ‘Night Care Centre’ for the safety of children living in the brothel area which is the first of its kind in the world.
