The Smartphone Repair Technician is responsible for diagnosing faults and rectifying it in a phone brought in by a customer. They first receive the faulty Smartphone, diagnose the problem in the faulty phone and then carry out repairs on the phone. They can perform front end or hardware level repair as required, They are also trained to resolve software issues and ensure effective functioning before delivering the phone back to customers.

Minimum Qualification
• After completion of class 10 and at least 1 year work experience in hardware repair is required for enrolling for National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF)* level 4 course for Smartphone Repair Technician
*NSQF is a nationally integrated education and competency-based framework that enables persons to acquire desired competency levels in a chosen field. NSQF includes vocational education, vocational training, general education and technical education which prepares an individual for the iob market with competent skills. An individual may return at any time to upgrade skills after gaining experience

This was the time of cell phone boom and he was advised by a friend to do a course in mobile phone repair. After completing training in mobile repair he opened a tiny shop in Parris corner, Chennai for mobile repairing. But that business was short-lived since he could not get any well trained technician to assist him. He took up a iob With a mobile phone service training institute in the City for a salary Of RS 10,000 and in 2006, he joined a mobile phone retail chain, The Mobile Store, as their technical head for Tamil Nadu for a salary Of Rs 25,000. 'That's where I learned how a corporate company functioned, how they managed a whole lot Of people with technology. It was a valuable experience," says Balasubrarnanian, who later quit the company to start his own mobile phone repair centre, First Call, in Adyar, in 2009. By constantly learning at work and by upgrading his skills he has tasted success today*
