A shrimp farm is an aquaculture business for the cultivation of marine shrimp or prawns for human consumption. A Shrimp Farmer performs various activities such as selecting the shrimp species to be cultured, setting up the shrimp farm, procuring, stocking and maintaining the shrimp seeds and harvesting and marketing them as well.

Minimum Qualification
1. Complete Class 10
2. Earn six months of work experience followed by National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF)* level 4 Certificate course - Freshwater Aquaculture Farmer/ Mariculture Farmer/ Brackish Water Aquaculture Farmer OR
Earn 2 years of work experience followed by National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF)* level 3 Certificate course - Aquaculture Worker/ Hatchery Production Worker OR
Complete a Bachelor's degree (B. Tech/ BSc) in Aquaculture/Fisheries Science

Raj Pal is a Shrimp Farmer who resides in Jhaiiar district of Haryana. Pal has studied till Class IO. In 2017, he started shrimp culture in his own land at Birohar and produced 7.7 tonne shrimp. After taking help from the government, he harvested 8.8 tonne shrimp in November 2020.
