An auxiliary to the Indian Police, the Indian Home Guard is a body which is responsible for enforcing and maintaining order within the community in any kind of emergency. The main duties of a home guard is to help in maintenance of essential services, promote communal harmony, assist the administration in protecting weaker sections, participate in socio-economic and welfare activities and perform Civil Defence duties

Places of Work: You can find employment in the urban and rural states as a home guard who assists the police and provide auxiliary support. You can also work as a border wing home guard in border states.
Work Environment: The work timings are typically 6 to 7 days a week for 8 to 9 hours per day. Shift system is applicable. You are expected to deal with challenging situations. Most of the work is outdoors.
