Food engineering is a scientific and multidisciplinary field related to food manufacturing. Food engineers are responsible for implementing new industrial processes in the transformation of raw materials into edible forms. The field also includes its packaging, storage, and distribution.

1. Complete 10+2 in Science stream (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics)
2. Complete Bachelor’s degree (B.Tech./B.E./B.Sc.) in Agricultural Engineering/Food Engineering/ Food Science / Food Science and Technology/Biochemical Engineering or other allied subjects
OR
Complete Bachelor’s degree and follow it up with a Master’s (M.Tech./M.E./M.Sc.) in the same or related field For admissions, you must qualify entrance examinations conducted at the national level (JEE Main, JEE Advanced, etc.) or state level (WBJEE, AP EAMCET etc.) or Institute level (VET,IP etc.)

• Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana Scholarship - This scholarship is provided to students enrolled in the first year of their engineering undergraduate course. Eligibility includes an aptitude test. It is awarded by the Government of India for economically backward students who have a strong aptitude for scientific research.*
• Merit-cum-Means based Scholarship - About 20,000 such engineering scholarships are awarded by the Ministry of Minority Affairs every year. The full course fees of awardees is directly paid to their institutions under this scheme.*
• Indian Oil Educational Scholarship - The IOC Ltd offers 300 scholarships every year to eligible students. Students need to be enrolled in an undergraduate course. The scholarship particularly focuses on students with physical disabilities, women and students from North East and J&K.*

Work Environment: You will have to work in an office or factory set up. You are likely to wear safety attires. You are likely to be exposed to loud sounds from equipment. You may be exposed to very hot or very cold temperatures. Your will work 35 to 40 hours per week but you may be required to work on weekends or put in more hours as and when the need arises.
