As an Appliqué Artisan you learn to create different patterns and designs by tracing, cutting and attaching fabrics cut in different shapes on a base fabric by hand, using needle and thread. You learn to identify different threads, patterns, colour combination to be used. You also learn to communicate with customers and understand their needs.

Entry Pathway
Minimum Qualification
• After completion of class 10 and with at least 2-year relevant experience you can enrol for National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF)

• After completion of class 10 and pursuing continuous schooling you can enrol for National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF)
• Level 4 course for Appliqué Artisan course

• The approx. salary of an Applique Artisan after 5 years of service ranges between INR 11,834-34,847* per month.
Ms. Kalpana Maharana, a resident of Brundabanpur Gram Panchayat of Ranpur Block, Nayagarh district, is one such artisan who has established a successful Appliqué works venture with the support of Odisha Livelihood Mission (OLM). On an average, she earns about Rs 11,000 to Rs 15,000 on a monthly basis by selling her products. This is a reality today due to the financial support she secured through Start-Up Village Entrepreneurship Program (SVEP).at a minimum interest rate. In the beginning, Kalpana was granted a loan of Rs 50,000 under the SVER After the successful repayment of the loan, she received Rs 60,000 from the Community Investment Fund (CIF) through the Brundaban Gram Panchayat Level Federation (GPLF). This helped her to employ more women in her business.*
