programs for them. There are four fields of social work:
Medical and Public Health workers
Child, Family and School social workers
Mental Health and Substance Abuse social workers
Other types of social workers involved in administration, planning and policymaking.

Priti Patkar, is the co-founder and Executive Secretary of the NGO, Prerana, working to end intergenerational trafficking and protect rights of children. Priti is a graduate from the School of Social Work at Nirmala Niketan, College of Social Work. She stood first in her specialisation in Social Work from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in 1986. She created 'Night Care Centre' for the safety of children living in the brothel area which is the first of its kind in the world. In 1989, she received the Ashoka Fellowship from the Ashoka Foundation USA She is also the recipient of the Nari Shakti Puraskar, awarded by the President of India.*
