Arbitration is private dispute resolution procedure chosen by the conflicting parties instead of heading towards the courts. An arbitrator helps the parties at dispute to arrive at a final consensual agreement or settlement. The responsibilities of an arbitrator include settling disputes, analyzing information using knowledge of facts and industry practice, and creating reports on outcomes of the arbitration process.

Entry Pathway
The Indian law does not lay down any specific qualifications for arbitrators.
1. Complete 10+2 and pursue a Bachelor's degree like LLB/Arbitration Law/ B.Com./CA/CS/ Engineering/etc. and opt for a professional certificate course in arbitration, from Indian Institute of Arbitration and Mediation.
2. Register with Indian Council of Arbitration
or
3. Complete 10+2, pursue a Bachelor's degree like LLB/Arbitration Law, and then opt for a PG Diploma in Arbitrations Law/ LLM
Entrance Exams:
Law entrance exams are given below:
CLAT (Common Law Admission Test) / CLAT PG /AILET PG /AILET (All India Law Entrance Test) /LSAT (The Law School Admission Test) /ILI CAT
If a student is interested in pursuing a career in Arbitration, he could actively participate in arbitration conferences associated with groups like Young ICCA, ICC YAF, YSIAC, etc.
Additionally, participate in the best Moot Court Competitions involving your area of interest, attend conferences and events (either as a participant or volunteer), join diploma or online courses in specialized subjects, read important judgments and articles which will keep you updated.
