The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) is a maritime armed force operating under the Ministry of Defence. The ICG is responsible for protecting the maritime and other national interests of India in the maritime zones. They provide protection to offshore and other structures. They also provide protection to fishermen and assist in anti smuggling operations.

Entry Pathway
1. Complete 10+2 in any stream, preferably the Science stream (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics)
2. Complete a Bachelor's degree in any subject
OR
Complete a Bachelor’s degree followed by a Diploma in Electrical/ Mechanical/ Electronics/ Telecommunication Engineering
OR
Complete a Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture or Mechanical/Marine Engineering/Automotive/Mechatronics and so on following which you must appear for various entrance exams For entry into the Coast Guard service, you must clear examinations like the Coast Guard Enrolled Personnel Test (CGEPT), Coast Guard Assistant Commandant exam or other competitive exams such as JEE Advanced, JEE Main, MET, VITEEE, MHT CET, SRMJEE, COMEDK, UGET, KCET and so on.

Naval training 1. National Defense Academy (NDA), Pune - The coast guard cadets have to undergo military training in the National Defence Academy. 2. Indian Naval Academy, (INA) Kerala - Indian coast guard officers undergo basic military training at the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala along with their counterparts of the Indian Navy.

Places of Work: You will be hired by the Indian Coast Guards, Government of India.
